Poultry Federation of India conducted its mega Symposium at Delhi on 23rd December after a gap of more than 2 years. After the successful conclusion of the Annual General Body meeting; Mr. Naveen Pashuparthy, M.D, Nandu Feeds, gave a brief presentation on the Modern GMT approach in Meat retailing. After the felicitation program of Press and Sponsors, Dr. Lipi Sairiwal, Ast. Commissioner DAHD, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying presented the brief idea on Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund, a scheme by the Government of India for our Farmers. Continued the sequence; Dr. S.K Dutta, Jt. Commissioner DAHD, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying represented ideas on Government of India Schemes for Entrepreneurship.
Mr. Suresh Rayudu, Chairman: IEC spoke upon the Future of the egg industry in India whereas Dr. Pawan Kumar Spoke about the Current Soy outlook in the country.
As a convenor address, Mr. Ranpal Dhanda; Secretary: PFI, welcomed all the Guests on the behalf of PFI. He also requests the minister to act against the problem faced by Indian Poultry Industry.
Mr. Ramesh Khatri, President – PFI was called upon to address the audience. Mr. Khatri welcomed all the delegates, ministers, scientists, and audience. He thanked Minister of A.H; Mr. Rupala for 2 main reasons on the 32nd PFI Symposium. First to arrange Soya and Soya DOC import for the poultry farmers whose pockets dogged deep for the price for Soyabean in the last few months. The audience gave a standing ovation for this event ever happen after Independence. Secondly, to control the rates of Soya, the Government suspended futures and options trading for one year in a host of agricultural commodities including chana, mustard seed, crude palm oil, moong, paddy (Basmati), wheat, and soybean and its derivatives. The suspension of trading in these commodities came into effect last week only, following a communication from the Department of Economic Affairs.
Mr. Khatri requested Minister to permit vaccine import for a few diseases due to which, industry is suffering for a long time. He also requests the Minister of A.H; Mr. Rupala to save the industry from a few under given issues, i.e. 1. Due to any circumstantial reason, people targets, vandalized or closed the shops forcefully, accordingly & at last farmer suffers and must sell broiler and egg at lesser rates; 2. Fewer states in India have yet not had Chicken Mandi at their places and farmers must face many problems and discriminations. 3. He also requested that whether India is in the top 3; globally as a Broiler and Egg producer but due to competitively higher rates of raw material, India is not in the race of Exports. “We need to work together on it”, Mr. Khatri said.
He also thanked Prime minister Narendra Modi for their long support to the industry evidenced by their decision on forming Animal Husbandry Ministry.
Mr. Bahadur Ali also gave a power pack presentation on What India needs to become on the top in Broiler and egg production and How Government can change its approach towards this Industry.
